I initially came to Further Fitness because I wanted to get better at recreational crew rowing. I am also an older adult and I am always under a lot of stress at my job. I needed to seriously think about getting strong both mentally and physically.
Why do you stay? The training is always challenging but not so that I'm totally tanked. I like to work out in the morning so my workout cannot expend all of my energy because of my commitments. I like the personal touch and attention to detail. There are a lot of ways that training can be harmful and cause injury. Jaime and Maribel are experts at sizing up someone's ability. I've seen it work for others as well. In the several months I've been attending, I have had no injuries besides the day of a bit of soreness because I'm growing muscle in places where I never had it before!
What makes us different from other gyms? Definitely the personal attention. The workouts change every month. They keep it interesting and challenging. It's not the same old thing every time. There are always new challenges to be met.
What do you think about the community training environment? I love training with buddies. I learn from watching them. I also like building up my connection to other people who want to get strong. Getting strong is really critical to aging gracefully. For young and older people, it is a great way to get into beautiful shape and lose that baby fat!
